Food Waste Friday #1

It didnt post on Friday guess  so here in my first Food Waste Friday

While searching around online I found this sight http://www.thefrugalgirl.com/
She had a posting about listing what she had wasted in previous 7 days.   I was intrigued.  I am always wanting ways to live more frugally.    Posting along with the others will hopefully keep me from forgetting about what is in the fridge.

This week I do have to say was a good week - I have know for awhile that I was going to be away at the beginning of the month so I have tried to eat all leftovers.  BUT I did have a Yuckie moment when I went to open the sour cream that I had in the fridge.  It wasn't salvageable.  Normally I would mix it 50/50 with water and make a sour milk bread.

With last nights dinner I had fixed some rice.  So I had my hot rice for breakfast

Hot Rice 'Cereal'

Left over rice
Sugar/honey to taste
Milk
Dried Fruit - I like raisins or cherries

Mix all ingredients and warm on stove or in microwave.
Enjoy.

Whew! What a day.

It has been a looooong day.  The Mob Boss came up for a visit - She will be here for a couple days.  Then the girls and I are going down there to meet Big K for Doodlebug's birthday and Halloween. I can't wait!!! Since having Lil' K I haven't really gone anywhere except to the store for groceries.  Oh, what a boring life. :)

Made a delicious meal tonight using some items from the garden -

Stuffed Pepper Stew

2-3 Bell Peppers - Large chunks
1 Pound Meat - Hamburger, Turkey, Chicken, Lamb, Meatballs, Stew Meat
1/4 Cup Dehydrated Onion Strips -or- 1 Med Onion Sliced
1 Pint Roasted Tomatoes
1 Quart Diced Tomatoes
1/2 tsp Garlic
1 Cup Dried Rice
2-2 1/2 Cups Water

In a sauce pan add the water and rice. Fix rice according to directions on package.

In a 6 qt. saucepan fix the meat in large chucks with garlic.  Once completely cooked add the tomatoes, peppers, and onions.  Depending on how much juice is with the tomatoes you may have to add a cup or two to the pan.  Bring to a boil.  I like the peppers just barely soft.    Serve over rice.

Enjoy
